You know those times when you can't even phantom the idea of getting away from a book. You are so deep into the plot and the emotional rollercoaster that all you can think about is getting to the next page. And OMG, I'm so emotionally invested in these characters now it's unreal.
"Girl Online" you exceeded my expectations! I've been following Zoe Sugg for more than four years now, she's a big part of how and why I got into Youtube in the first place and has been an inspiration since the beginning. So obviously when I found out she had a book coming out I had no doubt of how much I wanted to read it. And I waited until I could have my own copy to do it since reading it online seemed almost like cheating on her.
I'm a hopeless romantic, as I've stated many times before, but this book seriously hit a soft spot in me. It has many small references to some of Zoe's videos, things she has said, believes she has shared and lots of very specific makeup and bath routines only she could deliver.
Being her first book, and her not being an editor or a full-time writer, I can totally believe that she had help bringing "Girl Online" to its amazing form. I would be surprised and mostly deceived if she claimed to have written all by herself. And her transparency in acknowledging the help she received proves that she thinks the same has me, there's nothing to be ashamed of, she got help, she has a team, that does not translate into a third-person ghostwriter.
But coming back to the actual book, I LOVED it! It had funny moments, #TeamInternet moments, it had extensive New York and Brighton descriptions (my two favorite places on earth, even though mine is London not Brighton but it's close and also love it), and some photography love as well.
I'm not completely sure why I related so much to this book. It could have been Zoe, the approach towards anxiety and how it has become a new and difficult topic for me or the fact that Noah's actions and personality remind me very much of someone I used to see quite often. Regardless of what it is, I'm sure it's all of the above and a couple more eI haven't pinpointed yet, I really liked this book, I'm totally reading it again sometime soon, and I CAN'T wait until I get my hands on "Girl Online: On Tour".
Girl Online, going Offline!
(Should I have my own ending catch phrase? Adding it to my to-do list)
