Girl Online by Zoe Sugg
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
You know those times when you can't even phantom the idea of getting away from a book, you are so deep into the plot and the emotional rollercoaster that all you can think about is getting to the next page. And OMG, I'm so emotionally invested in these characters now it's unreal.
"Girl Online" you exceeded my expectations! I've been following Zoe Sugg for more than four years now, she's a big part of how and why I got into Youtube in the first place and has been an inspiration since the beginning. So obviously when I found out she had a book coming out I had no doubt of how much I wanted to read it. And I waited until I could have my own copy to do it since reading it online seemed almost like cheating on her.
I'm a hopeless romantic, as I've stated many times before, but this book seriously hit a soft spot in me. It has many small references to some of Zoe's videos, things she has said, believes she has shared and lots of very specific makeup and bath routines only she could deliver.
Being her first book, and her not being an editor or a full-time writer, I can totally believe that she had help bringing "Girl Online" to its amazing form. I would be surprised and almost deceived if she claimed to have written it all by herself. And her transparency in acknowledging the help she received proves that she thinks the same has me, there's nothing to be ashamed of, she got help, she has a team, that does not translate into a third-person ghostwriter.
But coming back to the actual book, I LOVED it! It had funny moments, #TeamInternet moments, it had extensive New York and Brighton descriptions (my two favorite places on earth, even though mine is London not Brighton, but it's close and I also love it), and some photography love as well.
I'm not completely sure why I related so much to this book. It could have been Zoe, the approach towards anxiety and how it has become a new and difficult topic for me or the fact that Noah's actions and personality remind me very much of someone I used to see quite often. Regardless of what it is, I'm sure it's all of the above and a couple more I haven't pinpointed yet. I really liked this book, I'm totally reading it again sometime soon, and I CAN'T wait until I get my hands on "Girl Online: On Tour". Literally my hands, I'm buying the physical copy, ASAP.
Girl Online, going Offline!
(Should I have my own ending catch phrase? Adding it to my to-do list)

This is an online platform all about Books!
Its mission is "to help people find and share books they love... [and] to improve the process of reading and learning throughout the world."
I have personally loved spending my time searching for new books, reviewing ones I've already read, answering trivia questions about my favorite book, finding polls on different subjects, and so on. I've also got to admit i've spent way too much time searching books I read years ago and reviving them in my head, has well of what I thought of it at the time.
Actually I have a small collection of plain white index cards in which I have written all of the books I've ever read (with a few missing parts here and there from forgotten ones), I writte the Title, The Author, Edition, Year of Publication, Number of pages and when did I read it. At first I forgot to do it for months and then I had to catch up with all of them at once, but now I just do it almost automatict after finishing a book (specially a good one) and I find it really helpfull afterwards when I'm searching for one of them. This is what this website reminded me of, my own little collection taken online into a million other book and people opportunities.
I'm really into books has I may have pointed out somewhere before, and I like finding new ways to relate to books even if it's through a social website and not the actual book or even a library. And Goodreads it's something that I may be going around for a while and it's really something you should recommend for others to enjoy...so Enjoy!
