Very rarely do you find yourself liking a movie more than its book. I still liked Natalie Babbitt's writing and original story, but I did find myself liking Jay Russell´s adaptation much more. If I had read the book first, I don´t think I would have been interested in the story as much has I am. The book has a much less going on and the main love story, which is the MOST important part if you ask my opinion, is almost nonexistent.
In the movie, Alexis Bledel seems a much more mature and older Winnie than her literary counterpart. Although I might be biest by how much I liked her in Gilmore Girls. But I do think the movie adaptation has much more depth into the characters, especially hers. And lets not even mention how much better Jesse´s speeches are.
To summon up, I have seen the movie several times, cried almost everytime and I´m glad I have the comparison point of the book now, to solidify my love for the movie.

Pondering about the meaning of life, or even trying to pinpoint whether or not we would choose to live forever is an issue that torments you a little bit after you´ve read or seen this story. I haven´t decided on where I stand in this. But I don´t really want to say something because that´s the sort of issue that depends so much in the specific circumstances that I don´t know how to give a general answer. Even though I do feel more inclined into Jesse´s point of view of a lifetime together may not be so bad after all. But after all, I am still a full-on romantic.
