Loved it! I´m really into books that have tons of references, drawings, sketches, quick tips and different ways to deliver content. Austin Kleon has a unique way of showing you all that he knows, a little bit like the way Lemony Snicket writtes. A middle point between telling a story, talking to you and just letting themselves be themselves in their own books.
Since most of his book are quotes or thoughts based on quotes, my review of the book are the quotes I felt the need to writte down somewhere else because I needed them to stay with me after I finished the book. Kind of like my own flash cards.
"...you can move from mediocre to good in increments. The real gap is between doing nothing and doing something." -Clay Shirky, "Cognitive Surplus".
"My greatest strength is that I don't know what I'm doing." -Radiohead's frontman Thom Yorke.
"You can't find your voice if you don't use it." -Austin Kleon.
"One day at a time." -Russell Brand.
"How do you find time for all this?" "I look for it." -Austin Kleon.
"You are only as good has your record collection." -DJ Spooky.
"SO WHAT?" -Austin Kleon.
"Work doesn't speak for itself" (I didn't write down who that one was from!)
"Whatever we say, we're always talking about ourselves" -Alison Bechedel.
I don't know who all of those people are, but researching Austion and finding his awesome newsletter (subscribe to it, it has some really cool content) was definitely worth it. And if he found all of those people, they most have something that makes them awesome as well.
